Available Puppies and Placing Deposits:

  • After we have had that phone chat, we will email you deposit information. We accept deposits via personal check, cashiers check, money order, or Paypal. The details will be on this Puppy Deposit Information Page that we email.
  • We strive to update our website Current Pups page as pups are reserved, that is as long as we have a current litter. We label the pups "Available" or "Reserved".
  • A $150 deposit reserves your place in the "picking order" of the specific litter you prefer. The deposit can be transferred to another litter, if there is another litter coming soon. The deposit reserves your spot. The deposit is applied to the total adoption fee of the pup.
  • It is standard in the profession of dog breeding, that deposits are NON-Refundable. We only refund deposits if we do not have a pup available, or we do not have the color and gender you prefer---with the decision to be made within one week of the whelping (birth) date.
  • We generally accept deposits after a Mother Basset has a confirmed pregnancy, which is about 4 weeks after the breeding.
  • We strive to get our newborn puppy photos up on the website within one week after whelping. A new basset litter can cause us to lose sleep and be very busy. We know you are very excited to see the pups, as we would be too! We ask your patience in getting the photos up, as it is very time consuming, and there is a lot of action going on behind the computer screen, in our household.
  • When the pups are 4 weeks old, we open up the litter for viewing and begin the process of Buyers choosing their pups. Pups are chosen: 1) on site OR 2) via webcam Skype, OR 3) through photos/videos and a phone call. We have had great success in long distance buyers being satisfied with their pups, although they have never touched the pup prior to bringing puppy home.
  • We allow and encourage visits to our place to view your puppy. We allow one visit for choosing the pup, and one visit for picking the pup up. Sometimes, people want to "see" who we are, and "see" our dogs before they will commit to us as a breeder. We allow that visit on a case by case basis. We apologize, but we cannot allow extra visits in between while you are waiting for your puppy to grow to 8 weeks of age. Our fees are lower than other quality Basset breeders, and we would need to raise our fees to accommodate this.
  • Puppies are generally ready for your home at 8 weeks of age. Sometimes we can let them go a few days before, and other times we need a few more days with them.
  • We give puppies a "kennel name", which gives the pups an identity while they are with us. People have asked us if they can give their pups a different name other than the one we assigned. Yes, of course, it will be your puppy. Sometimes people keep the kennel name because they have bonded with the pup using that name.
